Rafaeleheadon

The Dassault Aviation Rafale is the first multi functional fighter aircraft to be designed from the outset to operate the dual role of runway and aircraft carrier - based operations.

Compact in size, the fighter is available in three versions, all having a low radar profile through the use of composite structures. As with most new military jets, the Rafale comes equipped with extensive electronics systems for in flight control and weapons and defence systems. Particular effort has gone into pilot ergonomics, with a reclined seat and extensive display technology.

Aluminium & Titanium Superplastic Forming has been heavily used in the development of the aircraft from its inception with over 50 individual Aluminium Superplastic components being used all over the structure.

The component featured above demonstrates the complexity of forms available using this unique process.

To assist our aerospace customers we have produced a detailed design guide for aerospace engineers, detailing the Superform processes and materials, with comprehensive stage by stage design guidelines to component design for the process. In addition material data sheets are available for a wide range of alloys which can be successfully Superformed.
