“Strive for perfection in everything you do An inspiring and timeless philosophy. One that is even more relevant in today’s high-speed automotive design arena. The same words could easily describe the Superform attitude and innovative approach to development. It is just four and a half years since BMW Group became the custodians of the Rolls-Royce marque for automotive use, and as they proudly reveal the all-new Rolls-Royce Phantom it is clear that they too have been greatly influenced by those words. Designed and engineered from the ground up, the entirely new Rolls-Royce Phantom captures the essence of the world’s most famous car brand and interprets it in a whole new way. The result is a motor car, which incorporates cutting edge engineering technology alongside the finest hand-built craftsmanship. The design principles, which made Rolls-Royce world famous plus inspiration taken from the Phantom I, and II models of the 1930s, the Silver Cloud of the 1950s and the Silver Shadow of the 1960s are inherent in the new Phantom. Features such as long wheelbase, short front overhang, a deep C-pillar, long bonnet and the unique RR stance, which make the cars look as though they are in motion even at a standstill, were fundamental design elements along with the famous grille and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot.
Under the skin, the Phantom has a lightweight aluminium space frame body, which incorporates several Superformed components, from the intricate A and B pillar parts (seen above) to the front bonnet stiffener (below).
