For many years now, Siemens Magnet Technology have lead the world in providing the technlogy that powers the latest MRI scanners. This continues today with the release of new scanners from Siemens Medical, powered by SMT magnet systems and offering the very latest in non invasive examination.
The new Seimens scanner, above The increased power of the magnet opens up many new opportunities with faster patient examinations, and a more comfortable examination experience. Part of the new magnet incorporates a Superformed component which is over 2m in diameter, in 5mm thick 5083 alloy, and featuring a complex tesselated edge detail that would have been virtually impossible to form economically using any other process.
Above: The Superformed Magnet component Using high pressure cavity forming and 5 axes trimming, this complex component is produced at Superform in Worcester, UK. The complexity of the edge detail highlights the unique benefits superforming brings to medical equipment design, with the process easily able to incorporate complex 3D seconadary features even in 5mm thick aluminium sheet |
