On the GT, Ford concluded that Superform were the only company able to make the complex door inner and outer parts as one piece components, so ensuring structural integrity, reducing part count and minimising weight. These parts are formed from a SINGLE SHEET of Aluminum and trimmed - only the Superform process allows this!

Superforming gives the designer the freedom to create shapes in aluminum that conventional stamping just cannot achieve, from subtle concave forms through to complex parts with secondary features - all from one sheet. It really is the ideal process for low to medium volume production of both external body panels and complex internal stiffeners and chassis panels, as demonstrated on the Ford GT front and rear fenders below.

Superform offers accelerated development unlike any other - all production tooling and the first batch of panels for the Ford GT were produced within 20 weeks from receipt of purchase order. For some panels this process was even shorter - such as 15 weeks for the engine cover featured below.
