Using our diaphragm forming process we can successfully form parts which are generally classified as Non Superplastic. This allows alloys used for airframe structures such as 2014, 2024, 2219 and 6061 to be Superformed.

In many cases diaphragm forming is the ONLY practical way of successfully forming such materials and aerospace designers are beginning to see the benefits that Superforming of such alloys brings to the design and manufacture process.

Using such methods we can eliminate costly fabrication work by forming large parts from a single sheet thereby enhancing structural intergity whilst reducing costs and improving repeatability.

Among the many projects we have used diaphragm forming for non SPF alloys include:

Lear 45 - landing gear doors outer skins - 2024 alloy
Lear 45 - winglet and wing tip skins - 2024
Boeing 777 - wing nose beams - 7075 alloy
