Vacuum Furnace

Superform offers (VF SPF) Vacuum Furnace Superplastic Forming of titanium components and assemblies formed from Titanium Alloy 6AL-4V. Superform’s advanced titanium forming process brings numerous benefits to part design to provide superior titanium components.
VF SPF is superplastic forming without the press
It is an advanced method for superplastic forming of titanium sheet metal components
This method has been in use for over 15 years on production aircraft components
Processing specifications are similar to press-based SPF – temperature, argon gas, forming dwell times – compliant with existing SPF specifications
Process uses readily available vacuum furnaces.

Capabilities:

• Thickness range from 0.015” to 0.250”.
• Temperature range is typically 1650 – 1700F.
• Additional Titanium parts services include welding, laser trimming and assembly.

Benefits include:

• VF SPF Titanium yields stress-free parts through uniform cooling
• Graphite tooling does not wear from repeated forming cycles
• Flexibility in tool design allows integrated structures providing the opportunity to combine multiple pieces into one formed part
• Strengthening features can be designed and formed into parts for more structurally efficient components
• High quality surface finish
• Superior adherence to profile tolerances < +/- 0.015”
• More complex shapes can be produced, versus conventional press SPF
