Superforming is a hot forming process in which a sheet of aluminium is heated to 450 to 500 degrees centigrade and then forced onto or into a single surface tool to create a complex three dimensional shape from a single sheet.

Superform offer a range of four main Superforming processes - Cavity, Bubble, Back Pressure and Diaphragm, each suitable for specific applications. To see each in action follow the links on the left. To see the animations you will need the Flash plug in installed in your browser.

Superform components can be formed in a range of alloys - each depending on the end application and the forming process required to fulfil the component design. Our sales team can advise on specific applications but a general summary can be found by following this link.

Like other aluminium alloys Superformed components can undergo a range of post forming operations to achieve the final desired part or assembly, ready for manufacture. At Superform we have a range of sophisticated processes available in house, from DIN rated welding, 5 axes trimming, CMM inspection. To find out more follow this link.

Using our CATIA based CAD systems our tooling engineers work with customers to develop components specifically for the Superforming process. To see a list of compatible file formats we can use please follow this link.
